Food Adventures

The Food Adventures program creates an experience where students learn about nutrition and healthy food choices in a fun, hands-on environment. During the class period, students will work in teams to prepare a health mini-meal or snack, while learning food and kitchen safety, nutrition and science information, how to make healthy, balanced food choices, and the value of local farms and food producers in our community.  These classes are standards-based and interdisciplinary in nature. They incorporate Health, Math, Reading, Chemistry, Art, Geography and Sensory Awareness.

Students will be exposed to new foods, flavors and experiences in a safe and peer-supportive environment. They will grow to be curious and adventurous with new foods, and our program will encourage a taste and preference for unprocessed, whole foods.
